Here’s some free music for you all. This is our remix of Timbaland’s mega-hit, ‘The Way I Are.’ Download it and share it to your heart’s content. Enjoy!
Here is the video from the hit lead single off of Grits’ 2002 release, The Art of Translation. This song is still getting used in various TV shows and movies. The song is produced by Incorporated Elements. Watch the video closely-you may spot a Ric ‘Form’ Robbins cameo.
So while doing some research online, I randomly stumbled across Michael Buble’s video to ‘Haven’t Met You Yet.’ Not only is the song a solid pop song, it was refreshing to me to watch people actually enjoy doing, and being a part of, music. Throughout my music career, I have always subscribed to the basic thought that for whatever kind of music you set off to make, there should be an element of ‘fun’ involved in the process. If it ceases being enjoyable…if the creative rush ever dies out…that may be the time to take a step back, and reevaluate what you’re doing, and why you are doing it.
Because really, every time that we are able to step into a studio, and are able to create/collaborate, it truly is a privilege. Watching this random Michael Buble video, in it’s own quirky way, brought this home for me once again. Creating music is a blessing-every once in a while, it’s just good to get that reminder. 🙂
With that, here’s the video that started this whole train of thought…enjoy.
So after taking in my first Kelly Clarkson concert experience, I gotta say…I am really impressed. The Washington branch of IE has been hearing about this show for a while now, though at times, it has been hard to picture how everything that Ric has been describing to us actually fit together. Now, the picture is much clearer.
Looking back on the night, I do have a clear favorite performance. She sang the obvious Kelly Clarkson selections (and a couple not so obvious choices) from her catalog, and did an excellent job with each one; however, it was her cover of the White Stripes song ‘7 Nation Army’ that really got me. The video is a bit shaky, and it’s hard to recreate the actual energy in the arena on a Youtube video-but the performance is still pretty crazy. I’m just not sure I’ll ever listen to the original song the same way ever again.
Oh, and you may recognize the DJ who opens up the video. He sets the mood off right for this one. Check it out…
My favorite song at the moment is “Fireflies” by Owl City. What a breath of fresh air!
If you continue to follow Incorporated Elements and our blog, you can bet that you will see Jimmie Allen’s name on these pages again. We have been collaborating with Jimmie for the past couple of years, working together on numerous songs for various projects/opportunities. And we have only just begun. He is a workhorse, writing nearly everyday-almost as often as he visits his neighborhood Starbucks. Not just a writer, he is also a solo artist, and has been busy of late working on his solo project. The song that is linked above, ‘Comet,’ is the first single off his forthcoming album, due in 2010. Though we didn’t produce it, we fully support Jimmie in all his solo endeavors, and are excited to see where this new chapter takes him. He has some exciting things ahead of him, so stay tuned! Also be sure to check him out in a city near you, as he hits the road in December. For further updates on Jimmie Allen, check his Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/jimmieallenmusic.
Labeling and archiving. Things like these are the things that make me excited to be a musician.
But wow, I’ve been spending a lot of time doing this these past couple of months. The more music we do, and the more artists/musicians we represent, the more I am seeing this as a crucial part of my day. The need to be able to grab and send out whatever music is requested, right when its requested, is becoming the norm right now in the industry, prompting us to be on our p’s and q’s when it comes to file organization.
Speaking of organization, we’ve also been getting things organized on our end, so that we can begin posting photos, audio, and video of what we do as Incorporated Elements. Look for those posts coming soon.
But for now…time to do some archiving. 🙂
So while Ric is out on the road, posting about his djing adventures across America, I will be posting my random musings from the studio, where a majority of the music happens for Incorporated Elements. There is rarely a day when I’m not in the studio (which could be a good thing, or a bad thing, depending on your perspective), so hopefully my life on the grind will provide for some interesting blog posts. Until next time…
Okay, so it’s taken me waaaaay to long to start this blog, but that is what life is like on the road sometimes… 🙂 Here are a couple videos to get you started experiencing a little of what is going on out there. It’s been a blast so far touring with Kelly Clarkson and the rest of the band and the crew. Keep your eyes and ears open for more updates from the road as we go on through December!
